You only have two stars in the tourist book. Does mean that your standards are low?

A word about size. Size isn't everything! Approximately, we are slightly bigger than a six berth caravan and this is where you might want to forgive us for having a major whinge! We strive really hard to achieve high standards for equipment, guest welcoming, help and advice on tourist sites and, of course, cleanliness. BUT because we are small, the highest grading we can receive from the Tourist Authority is Two Star. We see ourselves as Three/ Four Star and guests' comments certainly bear this out.


It seems so very cheap. Dare we risk booking when we could be disappointed?
You won't be. Most people, when they see the accommodation, heave a visible sigh of relief that they have found such a bargain. Anne actually thinks we are more of a charity than a business. 


Do we need a car to benefit from a holiday with you?
Emphatically not! We are well served by the local bus services. Many of our guests arrive by bus or train; and many who come by car leave it on the drive and use the local buses. The Park and ride service into Durham is only 3 or four minutes away from us.


Should we bring bedding or any other equipment?
No. We provide bed linen, towels and tea towels. A change of towels can be provided mid week. The kitchen is well equipped. If by chance there is something we don't have, just let us know and if we have it in our house then you can certainly borrow it.


Is the accommodation completely private?
Absolutely yes! You have your own exit/entrance. There is also a side garden with garden furniture (summer only) which is for guests' use exclusively.


What about parking?
This is probably the most frequently asked question. Your parking space is on our drive and as we live in a cul de sac there is little passing traffic.


How soon can we get into the accommodation?
The accommodation is available from 2.00 p.m. on the day of arrival and we ask guests to leave by 10.00 a.m.on the day of departure.
